Save thousands on a battery system for your home or business – starting July 2025

If you’ve been thinking about adding a battery to your solar setup, there’s never been a better time. The Victorian Government has just announced the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, launching 1 July 2025 – and it’s set to make home and business batteries much more affordable.

Here are five key things to know:

1. The rebate kicks off 1 July 2025

From this date, eligible households, small businesses and community facilities will be able to access significant savings on solar battery systems. The goal? Help Victorians reduce power bills and rely less on the grid, especially during peak times.

2. You could save around $4,000 off your battery install

The program offers a 30% discount on the installed cost of home battery systems. For a typical 11.5kWh battery – which usually costs around $13,000 installed – you could save up to $4,000. That’s real money back in your pocket from day one.

3. It’s open to both new and existing solar owners

Whether you’ve already got solar on your roof or you’re looking to install a full solar + battery system, this rebate applies. Even better, if you’re starting fresh, you can also access a separate $1,400 rebate through the existing Solar Homes program to help with the cost of your solar panels.

And unlike past programs, this one isn’t means-tested, so more Victorians can take part.

4. We’ll help you with the application

Navigating rebates can feel overwhelming – but that’s where we come in. At E-Tec Electrical, we’ll walk you through the whole process, from eligibility checks to paperwork and installation. All you need to do is reach out and ask – we’re here to make it simple.

5. You’ll see real savings on your energy bills

Once your battery is installed, you’ll not only reduce your reliance on the grid – you’ll also save on your power bill. A typical household could see annual savings of $700–$1,600, with $300–$900 of that coming directly from the battery.

Plus, you’ll be doing your part to support a cleaner, more resilient energy system for Victoria.
